It is unfortunate that our allies are suffering from lack of supplies. It is hard for me to just sit back and watch our allies go through the war without anything to help them survive the hardships of the war. This is why I am going to enact the Lend-Lease Act. This act will enable me to provide aid to foreign allies and avoid the restrictions of the neutrality legislation of the 1930s (Hastedt 1). This act will also provid for the extension of credit, weapons, and supplies to the British government, as Great Britain struggled against the aggression of Nazi Germany in World War II (“Lend-Lease” 1). Since Britain had no money to spend on the fund of democracy, this act will allow me to lend or lease any supplies to any country whose defense is vital to the United States. This act is just as easily compared to lending a garden hose to a neighbor whose house is on fire. With the help of the Lend-Lease Act, we will be able to stop the ‘fire’ of war from spreading into our own country (Danzer et al. 552). Over the course of the war, I do no intend to give over $50 billion dollars in aid to Great Britain. Also, I know that by doing this, I am making an unsaid agreement to align our country with the triple alliance (“Lend-Lease” 1).

It is hard to understand why people would break agreements that they had in place with other countries. However, Adolf Hitler broke the agreement that her had made with Stalin, and he invaded the Soviet Union. For this, I will be applying the Lend-Lease Act to the Soviet Union and send supplies to help them in their time of need. As I like to say, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Although Isolationists are against this idea of the Lend-Lease Act, I know that Winston Churchill is in agreement with my plan. I have heard him say, “If Hitler had invaded Hell, the British would be prepared to work with the devil himself” (Danzer et al. 552).
